The History of Leptondale Nursery and Greenhouses
Family owned and operated for the past 50 years, Leptondale Nursery and Greenhouses was started by Charlotte and Robert Noble with a single greenhouse.
Through the seventies and eighties the greenhouses expanded.
In 1971, James Leghorn started working at the greenhouses for the Noble family at the age of 11. By 1978, he had started his own landscaping business in Orange County, NY.
Little did he know that he would return to the greenhouses in 1996 as a part time assistant. By 1999 he became a manager of the nursery. A year later in 2000, along with his wife Cathy, he purchased the business.
Together they expanded both the nursery and the greenhouse business to its existing 14 greenhouses (12 of which are open to the public), the gift shop with hundreds of items for both a mature and avid gardeners alike.
Their perennial gardens with its gently flowing stream, stone waterfall and wooden bridge have become a favorite photo opportunity spots for wedding pictures and prom photos. They have even included a collection of "barnyard friends" for your enjoyment.
